National Poetry Day 2022
It’s National Poetry Day again – ken you believe it?
This year’s theme is the environment and we want to share some kenning poetry by our talented young writers.
A kenning is a mini riddle where two words are combined to make a poetic description of something. The epic Anglo-Saxon poem Beowulf uses lots of kennings, for example:
- bone-house = body
- wave-floater = ship
- whale-road = sea
Our young writers have been working on a TOP SECRET nature project. Here are some of brilliant kenning poems they wrote around the theme of nature and the environment. Can you guess what they are describing?
